While I haven't tried many of their products, I felt obligated to give a shout out to the Chestnut Aveda store. Friday morning I was running around stressed out because I was looking for John Frieda's Beach blond spray, which my surfer brother had asked me to bring him for his birthday. Thinking I could find it at Walgreens or Pure Beauty or somewhere I hadn't exactly blocked off much time for this shopping adventure.

After trying basically every beauty shop/salon/drugstore on Chestnut I walked into Aveda with a helpless look on my face and asked if they had ANY idea where I could find it. They brainstormed for a few minutes, then the guy asked if I had a minute so he could go upstairs and look online. While he went to do research, the girl offered me some calming tea (very appropriate) and sympathized to my lack of planning ahead and answered a bunch of my random questions that popped up ("do you have any minty shampoos that make your scalp tingle?") .
Then the guy came back and said Rite Aid was probably my best bet.

While I didn't end up getting the product in time for my brother's birthday (it's fine, I'll just mail him some) I was very impressed by the two employees' willingness to help me with something that was not way related to their own products or services.

I will definitely go back for products since I know a lot of people that swear by them (oddly enough, most of them are straight men) but also because of how genuine and helpful they were. Much love!

So my spot of toil was having one of those white elephant gift exchange.
My rule is I always get something that I would want. Monica, from toil, had this tea that was really good so I went into Aveda to get it.
The woman at store was really helpful and really nice. She offered me a hand massage. She may have been a Marcus fan and all the women in the store might have been thinking, wow he is dense but I am guessing this is really good customer service.
I will be hitting the store post Christmas to score some products as hopefully they will be on sale. The tea is really good.

Absolutely no idea what "Aveda Environmental Lifestyle" means, but they have make up that the female unit (and her friends) seem to enjoy. Very helpful, and non-pushy staff (extra star). Quality stuff.

Tip: The store smells better than any "Body Shop" that I have been in. Your eyes will not water, your nose will not run or sneeze. You might actually ask, "what is that scent, and where can I get it?"

Yesterday was my 23rd birthday, and what better way to treat yourself than by buying some fantastic goodies from Aveda!? Well, ok, there are oodles of other fun things to do, but this one was my choice for a few different reasons. 1) My boyfriend was running out of his favorite Aveda shampoo and 2) I got two coupons from their Pure Privilege points program, one for a free custom perfume and another for double points on my purchase.

I don't hang out in the Marina much because I don't know the neighborhood, but the area this location is in seems pretty swank with a good variety of stores. Finding parking wasn't very hard at all and affordable. The store itself is smaller than most that I have been to, but their selection was great and the customer service woman was more than helpful. Honestly, I was a bit hesitant to head to a location in the Marina because I was worried folks would be rude or arrogant, but I've got nothing but good things to say about my experience.

My relationship with Aveda is probably my longest one with anyone who's not in my family. I am talking high school, before I had taste, style and oh I know I still don't....! LOLOLOL Ok Shut up.

We've had many ups and downs--downs mainly when those assholes have changed formulations. Or gotten rid of a product I love. I keep telling them not to touch my formulations, but they don't listen. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? I KEEP PUMPING MONEY IN AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME. I know that was harsh, but I'll take it back when you make the Love scent the old way again.

But no one has continued to please me like Aveda. My dual performance powder is the one cosmetic mainstay I have (except living here now makes my former Mexican luscious golden glow a nice dull gray), and I am a notorious product-hopper.

Oh hey listen P.S. Their hand cream? Smells like tea. Retardedly good tea.

I love Aveda, and I use their products on my face and hair.  I love the way nothing is overly perfumed, and how my skin is so soft and glowy.  This store is small, but the people behind the counter are nice, and they give you all the space you need to look around and decide the best way to spend your money.

The Carribean bath soak is a splurge at twenty dollars and will last about five uses.  It turn the bath water a milky color, giving your skin an exotic *light* scent, and make you feel like royalty.

This store just carries the Aveda products.  They don't provide any services.  It's easy to stop in and buy your favorite things or try something new.  Salespeople seem to be knowledgeable and not too high pressure.

I bought a hair product, and they gave me a hand massage on one hand.  It was kind of odd but whatever.
